#5 The opening theme to Spice and Wolf sung by Natsumi Kiyoura, This one is worth your time to listen too, and definitely to watch the anime, Season 2 did not show Horo, in Japanese, pronounced Holo in English made it to her destination, what is with that????? we need a proper ending to the story a S3 if you like :)
#4 The opening and closing themes to my favourite anime of all time, and that to me is Claymore, I adore the entire soundtrack. How much do I love this anime, let's just say I have Claire and Teresa Claymore symbols as tattoos nough said. It is my favourite anime series of all time but not music wise, but is definitely up there.
#3 I will say the opening but I loved all the music in it and that's Black Lagoon, yeah I am 55 and some may think bit rockish for someone your age. Screw you I love all music regardless of language or it's sound, if I like it, I like it screw my age. Music was composed and arrangement done Kazuya Takase, the vocals to Red Faction were performed by Mell. I love this anime and it's music. Though unlike Gangsta I actually really like Black Lagoon " You make me violate youuuuuuuuuuuuuu" :)
Before I get to my top two it would be disrespectful to not have a few Honourable mentions they follow below.
Le Chevalier D'eon the closing theme sung by AYA called Overnight, I really love this anime and the music in it, I can't say enough. I really like all of the music in the anime, and it's theme both music and story wise. If I had my way we would have a lot more animes like this and Mushi-shi.
HM #2 I often have this OST playing in my house be it making Saturday/Sunday breakfast, or when gaming is also no surprise one of my favourite animes. The Original Soundtrack I am talking about is in Japanese Akatsuki no Yona, in English Yona of the Dawn, what can I say I adore Redheads I also adore the opening theme.
HM #3 The closing theme to the Appleseed XIII anime, it is entrancing at least to me it is, also I like some of the music from another anime opening theme, Sousei no Aquarion from the original anime.
With that out of the way time for my top 2 and these could be swapped so easily as I love both of them that much. As with all my previous picks/HM's I love and watch these animes a lot. Not as much as Claymore mind you but damn close, and I love the music just as much.
#2 As I said this is a damn tough choice and could easily be number 1 and if it is yours, you are not wrong. The opening song to Ergo Proxy is done by a band from Japan called Monoral and the song is called Kiri. Don't let their ability to sing in English fool you. They are based in Japan IIRC and last I checked they still are though do not make music as often it seems, however they did leave us a masterpiece IMHO.
I remember when I first watched the anime and the opening music played I was like going what ,U2 did a anime opening song, Hell even The Cranberries and their song Zombie came to mind with all tonal changes in the vocals and pacing. You will not be disappointed listening to the entire OST to Ergo Proxy or better yet watch the anime with headphones.
#1 Okay I will reiterate you could switch this with my #2 choice in this list and I would not slap you silly. Anyone who follows me on Google plus or twitter knows my FAVOURITE Japanese band is Buck-Tick. So should also come as no surprise my favourite song on this list is Dress from the anime Trinity Blood.
Yes I love Claymore, xxxHolic theme Nineteen (man I want a 6ft mokona plush soooooooooooooooo bad ) etc are damn close as Anime. But as far as opening/closing themes go it is Dress by Buck-Tick from Trinity Blood hands down.
If you ever get a chance to see them live when you're in Japan do so, you will not be disappointed they reinvent themselves constantly over their entire career spanning over 15 yrs and counting.
So those are my top 5's and Honorable mentions but that's me, what are your's?? Feel free to comment on the post, via google plus, or @OpinonatedCanuc on Twitter.
Till next time I will leave you as always " Play nice with each other :) "
David
